Pumpkin

Work in continuous spirals.

Use two colors: primary and brown for the tail.

The pumpkin is made with the right side out.

Here is the video that explains the difference between right and wrong sides.

Main part pumpkin

Main color.

Work with 2 strands of yarn held together if using recommended yarn thickness.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring.

Rnd 2: (inc) x 6 = 12 sc

Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18 sts

Rnd 4: (1 sc, inc, 1 sc) x 6 = 24 sts

Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 sts

Rnd 6: (2 sc, inc, 2 sc) x 6 = 36 sts

Rnd 7:  (5 sc, inc) x 6 = 42 sts

Rnd 8: (3 sc, inc, 3 sc) x 6 = 48 sts

Rnd 9: (7 sc, inc) x 6 = 54 sts

Rnd 10: (4 sc, inc, 4 sc) x 6 = 60 sts

Rnds 11-20: 1 sc in each stitch around =  60 sts

Rnd 21: (4 sc, dec, 4 sc) x 6 = 54 sts

Rnd 22: (7 sc, dec) x 6 = 48 sts

Rnd 23: (3 sc, dec, 3 sc) x 6 = 42 sts

Rnd 24: (5 sc, dec) x 6 = 36 sts

Rnd 25: (2 sc, dec, 2 sc) x 6 = 30 sts

Rnd 26: (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24 sts

Fill the piece with glass granules and stuff tightly.

Rnd 27: (1 sc, dec, 1 sc) x 6 = 18 sts

Fasten off the main yarn.

Stem

Attach brown yarn to any stitch of the round 27.

Rnd 1: (1 sc, dec) x 6 = 12 sts

Add more stuffing until the pumpkin is moderately firm.

Rnd 2: 1 sc in each stitch around = 12 sts

Rnd 3: (1 sc, dec) x 4 = 8 sts

Rnds 4, 5: 1 sc in each stitch around = 8 sts

Rnd 6: work dec stitches until the hole is closed.

Fasten off and weave in loose ends.

Finishing touches

Tightening

Thread a tapestry needle with a strong thread to make tightening.

Insert the needle with thread into the magic ring and bring it out at the top part between the last round of the light part of the pumpkin and the stem. Pull the thread, holding it with your finger to prevent the tightening from loosening.

Return to the magic ring. From there, again, bring the needle up on the opposite side, pull the thread tightly, hold the tightening with your finger each time, and return to the magic ring. You should have six tightenings. Secure the thread and weave in loose ends.

Adding color

With a brush and brown pastel, tint the surface around the tail. Apply the pastel around the contour, then blend it with a soft toothbrush.

Similarly, tint the lower part of the pumpkin. Apply pastel to the center, then blend.
